      Administration Continuum Announcement
Posted by Sime @ Sat Dec 28, 2013 2:29 am
Mark Steadham sold ForumWise to a new owner in Mid 2013.

However since then the new owner has failed to announce him or herself or even sign into the support forums. This is of course very inconsiderate and most of all very strange indeed.

As for myself, I have only ever been Co-Admin and as such am in no way involved in this transfer.

As such, I am now unable to access any control panels or databases. I cannot even remove my website's banner from the network pages, including all your forums.

As such I will no longer be able to offer you admin support.

I can only apologize for this very disappointing eventuality.

I feel it important to make Admins aware of the situation so that you may make a productive decision regarding your community's future.

Once again I apologize. It has nevertheless been a pleasure providing support to all of you since 2005 and being part of this once everlasting community.

Meanwhile I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

    Best regards,
    Simon Edward Jepps

Very Rare Multiple IP Spam Attack
Posted by Sime @ Sat Nov 17, 2012 6:13 pm
ForumWise and hosted forums recently suffered a very rare multiple ip spam attack.

Whether you have been hit or not, we advise you to close registrations temporarily while the wave passes and ForumWise can prepare a tactic to overcome the wave.

We are discussing installing a Spam Attack Control panel, which would enable a 'return nuke' of any recently registered spammers.

Meanwhile, using the 'Moderate this forum' option (bottom right of each forum page) enables you to select multiple topics and move them all to the spam can or delete, in one go.

We apologise for the inconvenience and we will update this topic with further information as we work on a counter tactic.

    Thank you for choosing ForumWise.

      New Board Config Caching
Posted by forumwise @ Sat Jan 29, 2011 12:30 am
To improve the performance of the server, we are now caching the configuration settings of all forums.

While this change will speed up your forum, there is a small impact that forum admins should be aware of. The settings are cached for 5 minutes, so if you make any changes to your admin settings, it may take up to 5 minutes before these changes will be active. For example, changing your board template or closing your board may have a small delay before activating.

      New Registrations Currently Closed
Posted by Sime @ Wed Jan 26, 2011 7:33 pm
Due to unforeseen circumstances related to an influx of rogue admin sign-ups, we have had to temporarily close new forum registrations.

We cannot at this time give a date as to when registrations will be re-opened.

Existing forums will be unaffected by this action and all regular ForumWise operations will continue as usual.

    Thank you for your understanding.
