Custom Rank Images

Also note that you can use this feature to upload images for use with User Ranks. To do this, use the General Admin -> Upload Smilies page to upload some small images for use with ranks. Set the "Automatically add to forum Smilies" checkbox to off, since these images will be for use with ranks and not smilies. Then right-click on the uploaded image to get it's name. Go to User Admin -> Ranks and edit or add a new rank. Set the "Rank Image" with the name of the uploaded image and submit.

The Rank Image should have the following format:

/images/smilies/myboard/myimage.gif

...or...

/images/smilies/myboard/myimage.jpg

Where myboard is replaced with your forum's domain name.

Don't know what browser you use, but there should be an option to view the image (by iteself) or to view the image information. In either case you can get the pathname of the image. Then just make sure it is in the format shown in the guide you quoted.

That means that no matter what your browser is, you should have a way to get the image's pathname.

hi,
when you click on the upload smilies and then on the 'browse' icon to upload the picture from your machine, is the path name the thing that comes up when you chose the picture you want and then click on open, for example: 'C:\Documents and Settings\....'
is that the path name?
if it is, then when i copy the pathname and paste it to the 'ranks' it is not like: the way it should be will it still work?

Files on your machine can't be accessed by anyone except you, so any path that looks like "C:\something...." is no good.

If you want your members to be able to see the images they must exist on the Internet somewhere. Preferably uploaded to ForumWise thru your Upload interface. After you upload an image it will also exist on ForumWise.com, and that is why you want to find the path for the uploaded image.

When you right click while viewing an image that you've already uploaded, you should be able to find the URL of the image with the Properties window.

Then just edit the full URL down, to match exactly the format specified in the guide.

Remember how you uploaded your custom smilies?

Do the rank image the same way.

Make sure the image is on your computer first, then follow this guide to get it uploaded...

http://support.forumwise.com/support-thread56.html

Then follow the guide on Rank Images that you've been quoting.
