If I store a .cda track on my free web space provider account, how can I link to it? I've tried putting an link to it but all that comes back with is an "access denied screen".

If I can embed images into a web page with the code why can't I put a simple link to an audio file? Surely the above link will open the .cda file in windows media player?

Please help me someone!

Sy:

To be honest, I didn't even know what a .cda file was. When I looked it up, this is something I came across:

Quote:
.CDA is not officially a file format. It is actually a menu-like device used by CDs to locate audio on the CD. The actual file format on a CD is raw audio, either denoted as PCM or WAV format.

To convert CDA to MP3 (the files .cda represents), you need a tool to perform digital audio extraction, also known as cd ripping.

I would say, convert it to MP3 and then embed it like usual.

Thanks, I probably will do that anyway.

The thing that really bugs me though is:

Why, if passwords aren't required to link to an image, is access denied for an audio file? Surely, if the file is not playable (which it is) I should get a different error message? No?

To help me out here, please someone tell me this:

If you store an audio file on your webspace account (let's call it an mp3 for ease), can you or can you not, simply create a link to it so it opens in a media player?

You see I know this works.

Example link being:

Song

Why is access denied? Maybe I should contact my webspace provider...

Thanks in advance.
