Custom Rank Images

Also note that you can use the steps described above to upload images for use with User Ranks. To do this, use the General Admin -> Upload Smilies page to upload some small images for use with ranks. Set the "Automatically add to forum Smilies" checkbox to off, since these images will be for use with ranks and not smilies.

After uploading the image, right-click on the uploaded image and use your browser's available options to get it's pathname on the ForumWise server.
This will have a format like:

http://support.forumwise.com/images/smilies/support/icon_king.gif

Go to User Admin -> Ranks and edit or add a new rank.

Where it says "Rank Image (Relative to phpBB2 root path)" set the "Rank Image" with the name of the uploaded image and submit.

The Rank Image should have the following format:

/images/smilies/myboard/myimage.gif

...or...

/images/smilies/myboard/myimage.jpg

Where myboard is replaced with your forum's domain name.

As I have thoroughly reviewed Mark's process of adding forum rank images, I've devised an alternative way of uploading rank images in the most easiest way possible.

This process doesn't requre you to occupy some of the space in your smily directory which means, saving space for more additional smilies(since the current image upload limit is 200) of your choice!

((START))

Step 1 - Find a suitable image that suits the rank you want to use, then upload it on an image-hosting site(preferrably imageshack).

Step 2 - Copy the "Direct Link to Image" line of your uploaded image and paste it in the blank line "Rank Image (Relative to phpBB2 root path)"

Step 3 - Submit it and voila! a cool rank image that doesn't need to be uploaded in the smilie directory.

((END))

Hope this can prove to be a useful post to our fellow forumwise users out there, thank you for reading and have fun posting!

Hmm Thats good info but thats how I have always done it. Hosting it that is. If you upload it to the smilie directory it seems like any user could just use it. Like in reply. It would also make the smilie directory spread <-------------> To far because of the length. That is if you have alot of them.

I use Photobucket.

Not if you uncheck the "Automatically add to forum smilies" check box.

upload them as Smilies in the Admin panel, making sure to uncheck the box saying "automatically include as smilies" or something similar - that way you can access them but normal users can't

why does it have two dot gifs in its title?

fix that and then go into admin Panel, User admin, Ranks.
Add New Rank, call it 'moderator', make it 'Special', and give it a custom rank image (your mod similie)

Next, go into Admin Panel, User Admin, Management, Select a User (enter teh name of teh User you wish to be given teh special rank), Look up User, then go to teh bottom of teh page where it says: Rank Title.
Select your newly created Moderator Rank and assign it.
obviously, you'll also need to alter permissions and assign Moderator privelegs using the Admin panel but as far as custom ranks go that's about it

Yes, your board's subdomain. For example, if it was the support forums you would use support (http://support.forumwise.com) in place of "myboard".

So in your case I believe it would be ..../echatty/... .

Thankyou Simon.
funky, Simon has succinctly described what your smilies should look like (although they may also be .png)
May I be impertinent enough to ask that you try to use proper English when making requests here as this is a Support Forum. The logic being that if you want someone to take the time to help you (all of us here help voluntarily) then the least the submitter can do is take the time to construct logical and proper sentences. I know you're new but you'll get the hang of it Very Happy
