A while back, I purchased the premium package ForumArena Mega-Private and also the ForumArena Ad-Free service to remove advertisments from our forum. It has come to my attention that although I cannot see any of the ads, many of my forum members are able to see them.

Can someone look into this please?

Unless they are logged in they will see the ads. You do have the option to turn off ads for guest views. IE: non-members and members who haven't logged in, but doing that will decrease the ad-free credits very quickly and it's not recommended you do this as it will become very expensive to keep your forum ad-free.

No, I only have ads turned off for members. The ones who are still seeing the ads, are members who are indeed, logged in.

Sounds like you ran out of ad-free credits then. Wink

Can you define "a while back"? I would agree with ChickenMan, it sounds like the premium has been exhausted.

Are you saying that I do not get the courtesy of a warning that the credits may soon run out? That would be the least I would expect. I host a gaming forum for a group of Ultima Online players. Many members do not appreciate the types of illegal ads you are running, primarily the ones pertaining to the sale of WoW gold, which is illegal according to WoW's ToS.

Many of my members also post to the official Ultima Online Forums and provide a link back to our forums for new players or potential guild members. The owner of the UO Forums could ban any one of my members for posting a link containing such [illegal by their standards] advertisements, which was the motivation behind my paying to have them removed.

I will remind you once again, I CANNOT see the ads, but other members who ARE logged in CAN see them. This makes ZERO sense if my credits have, in fact, ran out.

Below is a screenshot taken by one of my members who, as you can see, is clearly logged in. Again.. I cannot see these ads on my computer, whether I am logged in or not.

That is what the information in the admin cp is for. Check your credits regularly.

Those aren't OUR ads. They are provided by Google. Thus it's their problem and not ours. If your members had an issue with them you could have brought it to our attention sooner instead making an issue out of them now.

Apparently so. You've told us 3 times now. We are trying our best to help you out with what we know could be the problem. You, on the other hand, are meeting our best attempts with threats and attitude. I've given my suggestions ServiceF1rst has given his suggestions. Now, since we are obviously not knowledgeable enough to help you, you'll have to wait for the Forumwise admin to come by and have a look to determine what the issue may be.

BTW,

Ad-free doesn't apply to the admin account either. Just because you can't see any ads doesn't mean the credits haven't run out.

First of all your demeanor will get you nothing but ignored. You are the one seeking support for an issue, to slap the hands of the one's attempting to resolve the issue for you is not only inappropriate it also displays exceptionally poor taste.

Secondly the suggestions made by ChickenMan and myself were merely that suggestions.

Thirdly it is not the responsibility of the Support staff to administor your boards on your behalf. You are provided with a tracking utility in your Admin panel to assist you in determining the number of ad free credits you have available - we do not offer notification upon expiration of those credits - that is your responsibility as the administrator.

Fourthly the ForumWise/ForumArena host does not participate in "illegal" advertising practices of any description. The ad you are referring to and which is displayed in your screenshot is a Google Syndicated advertisment, perhaps you should consult Google before you begin hurling unfounded accusations against the operator of the server on which your boards are hosted, at no fee.

I am locking this thread - the subject is closed. The Administrator can respond to your accusations if he chooses to do so.

You bought credits. The credits ran out.

You can check available credits at any time you like via the Counter page in your admin area.

I'm not sure why you don't see ads, because I see ads when I log in as you. I assume that you are using something which is blocking the ads.

Forumwise Admin - Why is it the mods here have such attitudes? I may not pay a fee for you to host my forums, but I have paid for premium services and may continue to do so for years. This makes me a paying customer and as such, I was unhappy that I was not sent any form of written notification that my credits were about to run out.

Why would this upset me? As I mentioned, the Google ads which advertize the sale of WoW gold, is "illegal" according to WoW's ToS. Other forums I frequent in regard to Ultima Online and many other games including WoW, view this as an illegal ad and there are repercussions for me and my members who post to such forums, for knowingly or otherwise, advertising such.

I realize the ads do not belong to forumwise, but you do allow Google to run these ads. This is what inspired me to purchase credits to block the ads. If this were not a serious problem, I would not have been so upset that the ad blocking came to an abrupt halt without warning.

Surely you can understand my concerns here. In any case, there was no reason why the mods of this forum should act so childish towards me. Customers get upset from time to time and I don't think I have to tell you that keeping a good attitude with an upset customer will likely keep things from escalating and turning quite sour.

An excerpt from a mod post above:

Clearly I was upset, given the consequences those WoW/Google ads could have had on the members of my forum, but I made no threats in this thread, nor was my "attitude" out of line for someone who was upset. I used no foul language, I did not attempt to launch a personal attack on anyone, nor was I even disrespectful. Please also keep in mind that this is the first time my ad credits have run out.

My "attitude" after this thread was locked was directly related to the fact that these moderators constantly remind your customers that we are not paying for these forums, when many of us are in fact, paying for other services. Just a few small lessons in customer service would greatly reduce the number of paying customers who become disgruntled.

In any case, thank you for checking into the problem and confirming the credits had run out. I have since located that area of the admin panel and now understand how it works.

This thread began to decline when the answers you were given by not one moderator but two relevant to the possible causes for your issue did not suit you. That fact is documented in the thread and one has but to scroll up to verify it.

No one - not myself, not ChickenMan, not you are entitled to, promised or assured of any notification upon the pending expiraton of this or any other premium offered by this host. You have responsibilities as an administrator and this is among those responsibilities.

Every single thing you need to know about being the administrator of a Forum is documented right here in the Support Forum - everything. If you did not know about the tracking utility in the Admin panel for this premium, then that simply means you failed to fully read the "manual", which is further validated by the mere fact that your OP is even here to begin with. It's akin to purchasing a new DVD player and getting mad at Sony because they don't call you to tell your warranty is pending expiration.

Unless your organisation is the Police, then nothing that is against your terms of service is going to apply to Google.

kat tnt no offence but i have already looked into the terms of service and emaild the webmaster of google for simaler purposes the ristrictions do not apply becuse google is not part of forumarena and are not limited to thes restrictions of site you speak of becuse it is a search engen as well as forumarena do not constantly watch the ads and are not responcible for ads that may contridict with your forum. the tos that u agreed to defiend you may not use tools to remove the ads of google so I am under the impression that there is no leagle matter violoation becuse every site has there own terms of service and in thir own way either comply with the sites connected. I hope i have explaned myself clearly if not pm me and i will try to explane better
