|
|
The ForumWise Cash feature allows admins to provide their members with a powerful custom currency or points system, depending on how it is configured. (At this point, the Cash system is just for "fun", as there is no place to "spend" the cash or points.)
Cash Admin
To use the Cash system go to Cash -> Cash Admin in your admin panel.
This page provides links to different Cash configuration and maintenance panels:
- Cash Options
- Cash Format
- Cash Forums
- Cash Earnings
- Cash Reset
- Cash Logs
Cash Options
Enable Cash: Use this to enable or disable the cash system.
Enable Cash Admin Menu Extra Links: If you would like the admin navigation panel to contain extra links to the cash admin panels, activate this option.
Enable Admin Cash Navbar: Adds a handy top-of-page navigation bar to all cash admin panels.
Post Message
Control if and how an earning message will be displayed to members after they post or reply.
Anti-Spam
Please utilize this feature so that members are not tempted to spam for cash or points. For example, you could set it that members can only earn credit for 10 posts last 24 hours. Or, as another example, only allow credit for 1 post in a 1 hour period.
Cash Format
Name of Currency: Name your currency or points.
Default: This is how much new members will get. (Keep in mind that existing members will have 0 to begin with, although the Cash Reset function can be used to instantly reset all member's earnings.)
Decimals: Use 2 Decimals if you want to emulate "dollars and cents", etc. Use 0 Decimals for simple points with no fractional part. Note that reducing the Decimals can instantly truncate all your member's points.
Cash Forums
Use this panel to disable cash earnings in selected forums.
Cash Display, Earnings and Permissions
Display the currency as image: If you would like to use an icon instead of a text label like "$", then first set the "Image", and then activate this feature.
Image: Use General Admin -> Upload Images to upload a small image for use as your currency icon. Right-click the uploaded icon to get it's full URL. Remove the first part of the URL such that it has the following format:
Example: /images/smilies/yourforumname/icon_iconname.gif
Currency style: Indicate if you want the currency name to appear before or after the value.
Show earnings in Post Profile: Currently the only place that member's earnings can be seen is next to each of their posts, so it is recommended that this option be set to "Yes".
In the future we might offer additional locations where the earnings can be seen, please don't ask when. Thanks.
Earnings
Use this section to control how your members earn for posts, replies and private messages. Any kind of post spamming is against the ForumWise TOS, so please be sure your members don't abuse the system.
Note that the "Bonus Cash" option is the only earning method that is somewhat spam-proof, because members only earn when someone replies to their thread.
Permissions
This section allows you to control if it's possible for member's earnings to go negative, also the user-to-user Donation feature can be activated, as well as ability for moderators to Moderate member's earnings.
Cash Reset
This panel can be used to reset all member's earnings to a specific value. To reset, enter a value, like 0, in the field and click "Set earnings"
Another handy feature is to recompute all member's earnings based on all current posts and replies and the current earning settings that are set in the Cash Earnings panel. This allows earnings to also reflect posts that were made before the cash feature was activated. Also, when a thread is deleted the earnings for member's that posted in that thread are not recomputed, so recounting can make earnings more accurate. To recount click "Recount earnings".
Note: The "Recount" feature will not recompute any earnings that are based on character counts, as this would cause too much loading on the DB.
Cash Logs
View logs related to admin and user activity within the cash system. If your logs grow large, please use the "Delete all logs" option to clear the information from the database.
Notes
If you plan on having post rewards that are less than 1, for example 0.25, then it is important that the Decimal setting under Cash Format be set to accommodate your earnings settings, otherwise members earnings will not accumulate.
For example, if your smallest earnings is 0.01, then a Decimal format of 2 is needed.
Another example, if your smallest earnings is 0.123, then a Decimal format of 3 is needed.
If your smallest earnings is 1, then a Decimal of 0 would work. _________________ Mark
