According to a fellow chess player, in the days of Leonardo Da Vinci, chess puzzles weren't logical. The artist is just given information on how the pieces move and then draws a diagram to suit. In turn, the artist having no understanding of the game itself subsequently draws an illegal position. In the case of Da Vinci he drew a pawn on the first rank.
The point in an illegal chess puzzle... ? I have no idea. _________________ How To's, Faqs & Userguides
