Here's a free tip on how to put music or a sound clip on your main forum page.

No need to thank me. Cool

I don't see the use for the hidden content tag. I used to think it might be a good idea , but now......

Thank you for the tip Maurer.

I think music on websites is rather annoying.. It plays on top of your music making a really confusing noise.

Man, you guys lack imagination. Confused

It doesn't have to be music. It can be a 1 or 2 second sound-clip which fits in with the theme of your forum. Like, if you had a war-based Clan Forum, you could have a 1 second mashine-gun clip or a clip of a sword being drawn from it's scabbard. For a Trekkie-Fanclub, you could have a 1 second sound clip of the door to the bridge of the Enterprise when people access your page. (It's out there - I found it. Very Happy ) For a Gamer Forum, you could choose from tons of appropriate sounds, like a photon or a ray gun blast. For a Dog Forum, you could have a bark or a few seconds of panting. Cats - a meow. Get it? The possibilities are endless, if you have a bit of creativity.

Sheesh. A guy tries to be helpful...Rolling Eyes

P.S.: Chickenman: I even found a sound-clip with a guy saying, "Supersize me!". Laughing

ok tip master extrodinare, i typed your code into both my category and my subforum. it doesnt work. i have the music i wanna use but i cant directly uplod it into the site. wouldnt it be simpler if there was a feature in our admin panels for uploading music?

i seriously dont know if i put my code in the wrong place or if the place i found to host the music wont link to my site. i went to mamoshare.com. is there a better site to host my theme music, and where do i typr the code in, the forum description or the category name?

chynadoll:

Put the code in the forum description if you want it on your main page. (You can also put it in one of your custom modules, if you want it on your portal.) But make sure you have a proper sound file, like http://faultgame.com/images/shirley.wav from my example. If you don't hear it immediately, refresh the page.

-M-

EDIT: Tell you what. Just copy and paste the code I have up there exactly as it is into one of your forum descriptions (say, 'Break It Down', for example). Then post back here telling whether or not it worked and what you hear, if anything. Then we'll see what can be done with the sound file you want to upload.
